Flip Flop Fun
More to share from Summer Art Camp
Another summer camp project, flip flop fun. The kids made and decorated
their flip flops any way they wanted. Then glued them on a beach back
drop made on canvas. We used real sand for the beach and shaving cream
mixed with white acrylic paint for the waves.
I posted the template for the flip flops. The kids had a ball. And the flip flops
almost fit their feet!

First step, Paint the top portion of a 11x14 canvas board blue. The bottom brown. I prefer where the ocean meets the sand on and angel. Makes the composition more interesting.
Set project aside to dry... meanwhile, have the kids use markers to decorate their dlop flops.
(I used a template to print out flip flops on white card stock. see bottom of post for template.)
I used bright colored pipe cleaners for the flip flop bands. I brought in different kids of beads for the kids to
thread the pipe cleaners.
As the kids finished their flip flops, I called them over to a station were we painted the dry brown beach surface with glue and sprinkled real sand!
Almost as fun as glitter. But easier to clean up.
No beach is complete with out shaving cream waves.
Mix a little white acrylic with some shaving cream on a paper plate and let the kids mix it.
For a few of my younger artist, I drew a few wave lines for them trace.
For the final touch.. we glued on shells.
