I experimented with this project and found it to be lots of fun. so,
I introduced it to a small summer art class.

Drawing with ink after project is dry.

Stamping bird with ink. Then we used Mod Podge to seal and finish.

After layering News paper, craft paper and adding paint,
I let the kids experiment with a stencil.
Then let project dry over night.

After project is dry, we are ready to draw a bird cage.

Well.. School is out and I thought I would try my hand at a
mixed media art piece I saw in Somerset magazine months ago.
It may look familiar to some of you.
Something about the art piece inspired me..

Using newspaper, and scraps I had on hand,
I experimented with the back ground .
I found a brand new stencil I had not used yet!! How could this be?

I printed a music sheet and cut it down to fit in the center of my project.
I tried to find a song about a bird.
With words on the sheet of music. It took to long....
so I used a song from the Beatles.

I finished!! On to the next project.

The students first sketched their pictures with pencil.
Then applied pure water color paints to paint their masterpiece. This is a real fun project. I find the kids always enjoy anything to do with animals.
This project can be used for any grade level... love those kind of projects!

Peter Rabbit visits Monet's garden
Kindergarten and 1st grade

I introduced the story of Peter Rabbit and pictures of Monet's garden.
With a little help from a rabbit stencil and pre-cut fence pieces, the students created their version of Peter Rabbit visits Monet's Garden.

Kindergartner, Love the bright colors used in this piece of art.

For this project
I used Liquitex Acrylic paint. It mixes well and provides nice bold color.
It allows the students to experience painting with a thick paint.
Dries fast too!

I made rock stencils for the dirt.
